26 People Died on Georgia Roads During 4th of July Weekend

Summer can be a dangerous time for drivers to be on the road. Over the July Fourth holiday weekend this year, the Georgia State Patrol reported 26 deaths caused by traffic accidents.

According to officials, Georgia State Patrol troopers investigated 513 traffic crashes that resulted in 307 injuries and 26 fatalities. In addition to the traffic crash investigations, police revealed 422 people were arrested for driving under the influence. In total, 2,554 citations were issued, along with 16,846 warnings from officers.

  • Never drive a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Leave early to avoid rushing to your destination.
  • Never try to retrieve items that fall to the floor of your vehicle.
  • If your car starts to overheat, pull over to the side of the road and call for assistance.
